Job Title: Commercial Lines Account Manager

Exemption Level: Non - Exempt
Department: Brokerage Services
Reports to: Unit Manager or Director, Brokerage Services

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

To independently manage a specific number of assigned accounts (moderate to complex) and to direct the management of these accounts in a manner that promotes an excellent level of service and profitability.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Client Service
  1. Oversee, analyze and evaluate client’s risks;
  2. review coverage’s to ensure quality of risk placement.
  3. Recommend needed changes in coverage when required due to change in exposure, marketplace and general improvement of insurance program.
  4. Utilize additional technical resources as needed.
  5. Demonstrate an understanding of complex coverages and policy terms and be able to clearly articulate this information as needed.
  6. Manages day to day processing of endorsements, coverage/policy changes, billings, certificates, audits and general correspondence.
  7. Utilize all available resources to ensure timely completion of work.
  8. Develop and maintain professional relationships with Client, support staff, insurance markets and other Venbrook staff.
  9. Keep client files in order in accordance with Venbrook’s policy and documentation procedures; document all account activities in a manner which is clear and understandable by others.

Marketing Renewals and New Business (requires minimal assistance from Manager)
  1. Prepare underwriting insurance specifications, assist producer in the selection of markets, and submit specifications to markets in a professional and timely manner.
  2. Negotiate with insurance company in matters of coverages and rates to obtain most comprehensive coverage and competitive pricing for clients and Venbrook.
  3. Assess and act upon opportunities to develop additional account revenue by cross selling additional coverages or referrals.
  4. Follow up with markets and monitor the quote/underwriting process to ensure that we are meeting the necessary time frames established.
  5. Prepare coverage letters, check policies for accuracy, issue binders, process invoices and set up files.
  6. Maintain and update knowledge of industry trends, marketplace, and appetites of carriers.

Computer Skills
  1. Proficient in common Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel, etc.
  2. AMS 360 experience required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Some college or technical courses required; BA/BS preferred
  • 3-5 years of related work experience
  • California Brokers Property/Casualty License
  • CIC preferred
