With World Mental Health Day coming up on October 10, we want to take a moment to recognize the important role mental health plays in a thriving workplace.

As your broker partner, Venbrook is proud to provide you and your employees with access to comprehensive, confidential, and no-cost wellbeing resources. These resources are available to all employees, whether or not they’re enrolled in a Venbrook medical plan.

To help you recognize World Mental Health Day and proactively support your team, here are a few practical ways to get started:

  • Promote Existing Resources: Use this week as an opportunity to remind employees how to access mental health support already available through your benefits, including your EAP, virtual therapy platforms, and behavioral health resources through your medical plan.

  • Encourage a Wellness Pause: Invite your team to take 10–30 minutes on Saturday, October 10, to recharge with a guided mindfulness session, educational webinar, nature walk, or another activity that supports their wellbeing.

  • Normalize the Conversation: Encourage leaders and managers to support healthy work-life balance, model appropriate boundaries, and make space for open conversations about mental health and self-care.

Small steps can help create a culture where asking for support feels more comfortable.

Maximizing Your EAP: Benefits Employees May Overlook

Employee Assistance Programs can offer much more than traditional counseling. World Mental Health Day is a great opportunity to remind your team about the broader support available through their EAP, including resources they may not realize are part of the benefit.

  • Short-Term Counseling: Many EAPs provide 3 free, confidential counseling sessions for employees and their household members.

  • Work-Life Support: Employees may have access to financial guidance, legal consultations, and referrals for childcare, eldercare, and other everyday needs.

  • Crisis & Critical Incident Support: EAPs can provide immediate support for employees navigating high-stress events, workplace incidents, or organizational changes.

  • Manager Consultations: Leaders can turn to EAP professionals for guidance on navigating sensitive employee situations with empathy and care.
